Sportfish Extreme Covering All Forms of Sportfishing Australia Wide

This event has been organised by
Australian Land-Based Anglers Association Inc
http://kingrods.com.au/LBClub/YaBB.pl
As part of the Australian
Land-Based Angling Association (ALBAA) Ledge Care Initiative a 'Clean Up
The Stones Day' will be held on and in conjunction with 'Clean Up
Australia Day'
Up until very recently Public Liability Insurance has been a major
problem in executing these types of operations. By incorporating with
'Clean Up Australia Day' this issue has been mitigated providing that
all participants REGISTER at the links provided below or completing the
registration sheet on the day.
The events coordinated by ALBAA and in partnership with Sportfish
Extreme will be held in 2 separate states and serve to assist in the
protection of these coastal environs and open relations with the
relevant management bodies in these areas. From these efforts the
protocol will be put in place to spread our influence and pave the way
for further Ledge Care Initiatives in other areas/states.
Jervis Bay, New South Wales
This Sunday March 2nd 2008 a clean up of the Beecroft Peninsula has been
organized as part of the Clean Up Australia Day initiative.
We are focusing on two main areas:
1) The Tubes - inside the bay (which incorporates a dive team led by Stu
Bradley) cleaning the sea floor as well as a team cleaning the ledge and
access track;
2) Mermaids Inlet (Big Beecroft).
ALBAA members Steve Malby and Kurt Edwards have been liaising with the
Shoalhaven City Council and local rangers and have secured gate access
to Mermaids Inlet which will allow us to drive all the way out to the
track head to remove the rubbish on the day.
This is a great opportunity for all to step up and make a statement
about just what the 'jewel in the crown' means to us as fisherman - and
show that we are passionate about looking after the area. For those new
to the sport - a chance to meet up and have a chat with some of the
LBGer’s who fish this area regularly.

Darwin, Northern Territory
This Sunday March 2nd 2008, a Clean Up Australia activity will be held
at East Point Flora and Fauna Reserve in Darwin, which is a local
headland that is primarily a fishing spot. If you're in the area it
would be great if you can come down and give us a hand. You'll need to
register online at Clean Up Australia as a volunteer. We're meeting at
10:30 am at the very last car park before the point, past the Military
Museum and to the left. A BBQ and cold drinks will be provided
afterwards from 12 0'clock, oh, and there will be a couple of us having
a fish off the rocks beforehand. (The Milk Bar)

The time has come to make a cultural change among land based fishermen
in Australia. If we are to effectively spread this influence and lead by
example we can assure the continued use of these areas we hold as LBG
Heritage Listed.
Please show the strength of your support by your participation. Stand up
and be counted.
